Frequently Asked Questions

How do I use the YOU Design Studio?
STEP 01: While in the YOU Design Studio, choose your template from the top bar. You can choose Front Walls, Movable Props, Flags, Tarps or Floors. Once you have chosen your template it will load into the Designer Space.

STEP 02: Click “Search Shutterstock Images”. Enter the keyword of your choice then click “search”. When you find the image you like best, click “Copy to Image Designer”. Images in the Designer are lower resolution than the final image to be used, and include a “Shutterstock” watermark. You will receive a proof without the watermark in high resolution for your approval before your order goes into production and after you have paid for your order.

STEP 03: You can then use the MOVE/SCALE/ROTATE tools to make your design how you like. Make sure to fill the white space with your image. When you are done click “Add to My Designs”.  Do not close the YOU Design browser until you are done, your work will not be saved.

STEP 04 : When you are ready to send your designs to Band Today, select all the design(s) you want to send and click “Submit Design”. We will be in contact within one business day with a copy of your initial proof and instructions on how to complete an order.

What is the difference between Packages?
Basic Packages include everything needed to secure your printed media EXCEPT Pipe or PVC which can be purchased locally. Premiere Packages include cut-to-size pipe, and wheel frames with the Movable props. Casters would need to be purchased separately through us or a local supplier.

HOW CAN I PURCHASE THE PIPE MYSELF?
Our system uses 1 3/8” chain link top-rail pipe that is pre-cut into one of four specific sizes for ease in shipping and assembly.  The same pipe is available in 10’ sections at home improvement stores.  1” ENT pipe could also be used (although the clear clamps in package will not fit ENT pipe), and 1” PVC could possibly be used for front walls.
WHAT CAN I DO TO SECURE TO PIPES TOGETHER MORE SECURELY?
Sections of pipe can be taped together with duct tape although it is recommended that sections be secured with tap screws supplied when precut pipe is purchased from Band Today.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN POPLIN AND VINYL?
Poplin is a fabric enabling colors to “POP” for a much richer presentation.  Poplin will not bleed, and is machine washable.  If you can afford the extra cost, it’s well worth it. Vinyl is more cost-efficient and is used by bands all over the country.
WHAT IS DYE-SUBLIMATED PRINTING?
Dye-sublimation is a special printing process capable of creating amazingly vivid and sharp full color fabric prints. Specially formulated inks are first printed, in reverse, on to sublimation transfer paper. The paper prints are then pressed together with the target fabric using high heat (around 400°F) and pressure in a specially designed sublimation heat press. During this pressing process, the inks ‘sublimate’ from the paper directly into the fibers of the fabric. As soon as the transfer is complete, the image is completely impregnated into the fabric and can be washed, dried, and ironed without losing quality.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET MY PROPS?
Once you finalize a design, you’re two weeks out from having your props in hand!

If you’re using our designers for Custom Design, you can expect your first draft within 24 hours Monday-Friday. If you use our YOU Design studio, your draft is considered “approved” once you send it to us.

HOW MUCH IS SHIPPING?
Shipping is based on weight. Shipping on prints online tends to be less than prop kits. The more you get, the more shipping will cost. You will get a shipping price estimate before you finalize your order.
I MADE MY OWN ARTWORK, CAN I JUST USE THAT?
YES! Go to our YOU design studio and look to the right of the workspace. You will see a button to upload your own artwork. Our graphic department will review your image to be sure it will print well and we might recommend a different image if there isn’t enough resolution.
WHAT ARE CLEAR CLAMPS?
Clear Clamps and Corner Clamps are exclusively provided by Band Today! These nifty little clamps secure your printed media to your frame without hassle! They fit perfectly and can twist to provide a smooth and wrinkle-free fit.  See them here.
ART SUBMISSION TERMS & CONDITIONS
The preferred method of submitting art files is using our YOU Design Studio. Using this option allows for 1 year of Copyright permission per image. There is no stock image fee for prop orders. There is a $10/stock image fee for flag orders of 10 or less.

Images which have been downloaded from the internet are not usually sufficient resolution for print and it could be illegal for Band Today to use them without the proper permissions. Copyright of all images that are sent to Band Today fall upon the purchaser and Band Today is not responsible for copyright research. Clients assume all Copyright responsibility when supplying their own art files for printing.

All images submitted for print should be created using CMYK color space. All RGB files will be converted to CMYK. Non-professional design files are not supported (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Vector files are best and we support all Adobe Creative Cloud applications. When preparing your design, the scale we use is 1 inch = 1 foot @ 300 dpi. Raster images can be used as long as they are a high resolution.

Band Today will not be held responsible for color matching if a sample proof is not ordered before final approval. Colors may vary from computer monitor to mobile device. Therefore, the best way to insure a color match is through the approval of a sample proof.

What is CMYK color mode? CMYK is the color mode used by Band Today to reproduce your design. The color calibration of Cyan (C), Magenta (M), Yellow (Y), and Black (K) determines the final color in your artwork. As a result, your submitted files must be in CMYK color mode to maximize color quality.

If your files are submitted using any other color standard, such as RGB or Pantone, they will be converted to CMYK. Conversion from one color standard to another may cause colors to shift. If you are not familiar with printing in CMYK color mode, we highly recommend that you order a sample proof, which can be selected when you place your order. Please note that we can not guarantee that the color of your artwork printed will match that seen on your monitor or printed via any other method.

When color fidelity is critical, Band Today recommends that you order a proof before final approval of your artwork.
